Home of the Miners

We are the Miners! Red Valley/Cove High School is a public high school serving Navajo students in ninth through twelfth grades. If you know just where to look, you will find us on the Navajo reservation, tucked away in a very remote area of northeastern Arizona, about 25 miles southwest of the Four Corners.

From the Principal’s Desk

Dear Red Mesa Unified School Families,

My name is Andre Ponder, and I am excited to introduce myself as the new school principal of Red Mesa Jr. High, Red Mesa High, and Red Valley/Cove High School. I am honored to have been selected to join the Red Mesa Unified School District. Over the span of my career, I have served in the armed forces, worked as a law enforcement officer, a teacher, a behavior specialist, an assistant principal, and an international school principal. However, my most important job now is to work collaboratively with the teachers, staff, community members, and parents to ensure a healthy, happy, and safe environment where every child can learn and make sufficient academic progress.

Not only am I excited to begin working with your children, I look forward to meeting each of you as we attempt to increase parental involvement and student engagement. Creating a learning environment that is also dedicated to supporting the needs of diverse students is my goal. I am a people person, and I take pride in having an open-door policy. Feel free to make an appointment or simply stop in to witness the great learning opportunities that our school district has to offer.

Once again, I am grateful to have the opportunity of sharing my past experiences as we act upon the vision and mission of our school district and this wonderful community.

Warm Regards,

Andre Ponder
